Religion is rarely out of the news. But how much of it is simply "bad faith" for humanity and the planet? Simon Barrow reflects theologically on current events (and cultural blips) from an engaged Christian perspective. FaithInSociety seeks a conversation between reason and hope, shaped by the subversive memory of the Gospel. (c) SB 2003-12.

"At the same time, church leaders have also questioned and denied rights-based precepts and practices in a number of instances."
It may be that the primary source of the discontinuities you point to is scripture itself. If one wants to find Jesus the condemner and punisher there are plenty of verses for that; but if one wants to find a Jesus of compassion who doesn't, as it were, lord it over others, then there are plenty of verses for that too.
Maybe Christians will be judged by how we choose our verses. Or perhaps in the end we will awaken to a Word known first hand.
