SPEECH ACTS

Here's a revised and re-published version of the reflection I referred to on 18 May: Hearing hope through the babble. Ekklesia, 27 May 08. Globalisation constructed as top-down control and the triumph of the powerful needs to be disrupted by a different and gentler logic, says Simon Barrow. But will we choose Pentecost or Babel?

Dear Simon
something very strange must have been going on with the Holy Spirit today.
I too have been blogging about Babel and Pentecost
Anyway I love speech acts - very Roland Barthes as opposed to Karl Barth
apologies I have been drinking a great deal of spirit fillied Burgundy this evening
for the moment I still have a job c'est bien n'est ce pas!
